RATA specialists inspected very low-level short-lived radioactive waste packages of the Ignalina NPP on 29 June.
The inspection was conducted at the Unit 1 Decontamination and Radioactive Waste Removal Section. The processes of the formation and the radiological characterization of containers with very-low level radioactive waste were checked. The inspection did not identify any non-compliances.
This inspection was conducted within a framework of technical inspections plan for very low-level short-lived radioactive waste packages. According to this plan, RATA’s assignment is to verify and examine the production processes of radioactive waste packaging in the territory of the waste producer and evaluate whether the treated radioactive waste meets Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) for storage or disposal facilities.
